About VinylLens
VinylLens is a vinyl record scanner for your phone. Photograph the center label, the cover or the barcode, and it finds the exact pressing, then shows what that pressing is worth in each condition, for the record and the sleeve. This site is its free public guide to vinyl pressings.
What the site lists
Every vinyl pressing of tens of thousands of albums: when and where each was made, its labels and catalog numbers, its barcode, and the matrix and runout codes etched or stamped in the dead wax. Album pages point out the pressings from the album’s first year, which is where most collectors start. The search covers millions of records, including singles and 78s.
The pressing information comes from public catalog data released into the public domain by the record-collecting community, and covers come from a public cover art archive. Both are checked and organised by us; mistakes happen, and we fix them when told.
Why there are no prices here
A record does not have one price: it depends on the exact pressing and on the condition of the vinyl and the sleeve, and the market moves. Rather than print a number that fits nobody’s copy, the app matches your pressing and shows the value for your copy’s grade. The guides explain grading, first pressings and what makes a record valuable.
Who runs it
VinylLens is made by Happread, a small team based in Poland. Get in touch if a pressing is wrong or missing, or something on the site is broken. Corrections are genuinely useful and we read them.
VinylLens is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any artist, record label or marketplace, and all album titles, artwork and trademarks belong to their respective owners.
