Abigail Francine Lassman. American singer and actress. Born December 14, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York, USA. Died April 25, 2026 in Los Angeles, California, USA. Lane, born to a Jewish family, began her career as a child actor on radio, and from there she progressed to singing and dancing on Broadway. Quickly establishing herself as a "femme fatale", Lane found popularity in Italian films but was often criticised for her flagrantly sexual persona, especially early when the press considered a sex object, not a singer. Married to Xavier Cugat (1952-1964, divorced), Lane achieved her greatest success as a nightclub singer, and was described in a 1963 magazine article as "the swingingest sexpot in show business".
