Baden Powell Quartet was an ensemble organized and directed by Baden Powell. They debuted in 1970 with successful and critically-acclaimed European and Japan tours. The quartet recorded over 19 compositions within three days at Barclay studio in Paris in December 1970, focusing on Afro-Brazilian music, and released them on three-part LP album. Baden Powell worked with the singer Janine De Waleyne for the first time on this project, and invited a few other guest musicians to participate in the recording sessions, including Lou Gamme (bass flute), Charles Verstraete (trombone), Pierre Gossez (tenor sax), and Ariel Kalma (wooden flute).
