Cheryl Ann Norton. American soul and pop singer, born in Los Angeles on 13.10.1958. In her early music career, she played and toured with Michael Henderson and his band, as well as with Luther Vandross. She achieved major success as a solo artist with the production team of Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, hitting with her first top-ten single, “I Didn’t Mean To Turn You On,” in 1984. A year later, it became a huge hit for Robert Palmer and, in 2001, for Mariah Carey. She scored again with the team in 1988 on her album Affair, where the title track reached the top ten and the ballad “Everything I Miss At Home” went number one on the Billboard R&B charts.
