Francis John (Frank) Tovey. Industrial / Synth-Pop project of Frank Tovey (8 September 1956 - 3 April 2002). Tovey was the first artist signed to Mute Records. His groundbreaking "Back To Nature" single was put out as Mute's second release, in October 1979. His live shows were known for being far more physical than those of many other electronic acts of the time, often featuring Tovey injuring himself. In 1980, he released his debut album 43391. Following the release of his 4th album 43438 in 1984, he dropped the stage name in favour of his real name.
