KMD, an acronym first for "Kausin' Much Damage" and then "a positive Kause in a Much Damaged society", was a hip hop group formed in 1986 or 1987 by Zev Love X, Subroc, Jade1, and Prime. This lineup would record a single "The Therapist" (1987) but it never released. Jade1 and Prime would leave before the recording of their first album Mr. Hood and Onyx the Birthstone Kid would join. Onyx left in 1992 during the recording of the group's second album Black Bastards. Immediately following the death of Subroc in 1993, when KMD was in the middle of producing its second album, Bl_ck-B_st_rds, Elektra dropped the group and shelved the album.
