American singer-songwriter and film and television composer. Born November 23, 1959, in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. Cousin of pianist . Formerly founded and played in the Minneapolis indie rock band before pursuing an extensive solo career. Besides his many heartfelt songs, he is also known for composing songs about people in the audience at concerts and taking concerts outdoors when they have run their course at venues. He was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2002 for his song "Best Kind Of Answer" which was in the CBS series "Judging Amy", for which Himmelman also composed the score. He was the composer for the FOX television show Bones.
