Brazilian rock 'n roll band, formed in 1959 in Rio de Janeiro by Renato Barros and his brothers Paulo Cezar and Edson (aka Ed Wilson). Given the length of time the band has been together (more than 45 years) there have been numerous line-up changes. Originally they were called "Rock Bacaninhas of Mercy" before changing their name to Renato & The Blue Caps. The three bothers were joined by Euclides de Paula (guitar), Gelson Moreas (drums) and saxophonist Roberto Simonal. Gelson was replaced by Claudio in 1960. Ed Wilson left in 1963 and was replaced by Erasmo Carlos. In 1964 the line up consisted of Renato (lead guitar), Paulo Cesar (bass), Claudio, Cid (sax) and Renato (rhythm guitar).
