When was The Hits first released on vinyl?

The earliest pressings are from 1988, in US, UK, Canada, Argentina and more. One of them is Epic OE 44202, released May 18, 1988.

How do I tell if my copy of The Hits is a first pressing?

Check the catalog number on the label (first-year pressings use OE 44202, 465595 1, 460856 1, 70-019) and the codes etched in the runout groove, then compare them with the pressings listed above; for example, AL-44202-1AA G1 (A) SC A2 and PBL-44202-1C E G1 B7. Later reissues often keep the catalog number but change the label design or the runout codes.
