Rochelle Simons Lecomte. Mrs Simons Lecomte, born in 1957, began singing at age seven, when she was mentored by gospel singer Jean-Anne McConnie. Ms McConnie helped to professionally groom the youngster and gave her the opportunity to open for her gospel group, the Upper Room Quintet, whenever they performed on the Island. When she was ten-years-old she joined up with one of her siblings Winnifred Simons, that was around the time when Aunt Nell, had the junior club on ZBM every week, Mrs Simons Lecomte said. Her parents Sylvia and Russell Simons were quite musical and would often play the guitar and sing after Sunday evening supper or during family get-togethers.
