Black metal band from Oslo, Norway, founded in 1991. Initially formed as a death metal band Eczema in 1990 by bassist Wargod (Vegard Tønsberg Bakke), drummer Exhurtum (Carl-Michael Eide) and guitarist Lemarchand (Håvard Jørgensen). In September 1991 they changed name to Satyricon and in January 1992 Satyr (Sigurd Wongraven) joined the group as vocalist. Satyr quickly became the driving force in the band and soon the other members either quit or were kicked out. In 1993 drummer Frost (Kjetil-Vidar Haraldstad) joined the band and without few exceptions Satyricon has been a two-man force ever since.
