English progressive rock / hard rock trio that formed in 1971. The band featured on drums, on guitar/vocals and Gary's brother on bass/vocals. Their talent was initially spotted by who took them to Harvest Records. 1971 saw the release of their first single 1034550 and their self-titled debut album 474999. An effort typical of the time and genre with elaborate keyboard and guitar codas dominating, Lake himself served as the producer. A second album offered more of the same and was virtually ignored at the time of release. The group’s final release under the Spontaneous Combustion name was the 1973 single 546812.
