English alternative rock band from London formed in 1989, disbanded 2003. Initially based around the partnership of vocalist / lyricist Brett Anderson and guitarist / composer Bernard Butler, Suede made two albums prior to Butler’s acrimonious departure and his replacement by guitarist Richard Oakes and keyboard / guitarist Neil Codling. A further three studio albums (and a highly-regarded B-sides collection) followed before their disbandment in 2003. The second incarnation of the band reunited in 2010 for a series of concerts. These were successful enough to convince the band to reunite permanently, leading to five further studio albums and multiple compilations and live albums.
