The Edsels were an American doo-wop group from Campbell, Ohio who were active during the late 1950s and early 1960s. The name of the group was originally The Essos, after the oil company, but was changed to match the new Ford automobile, the Edsel. Their first release in 1958 was "Rama Lama Ding Dong" which did not chart, at all. (First pressings on Dub Records were mislabeled "Lama Rama Ding Dong") In 1961 DJ's started playing the song and it was re-released on Twin Records eventually peaking at #21 on Billboard charts. However by this time the band had broken up. Members: George Jones, Jr. - lead vocalist, James Reynolds, Marshall Sewell, Harry Greene, Larry Greene
