Questions
How many vinyl pressings of Skywriter are there?
33 vinyl pressings of Skywriter are listed here, from 19 countries, released between 1973 and 2019.
When was Skywriter first released on vinyl?
The earliest pressings are from 1973, in US, UK, Germany, Italy and more. One of them is Motown M 761L, released March 1973.
How do I tell if my copy of Skywriter is a first pressing?
Check the catalog number on the label (first-year pressings use M 761L, M 761L DJ, STML 11231, HS2017-1) and the codes etched in the runout groove, then compare them with the pressings listed above; for example, HS2017-1 C5RS 7524 RG-1 JA2 1306722-13A and HS2018-2 C5RS 7525 RG-1 JA2 1306722-13B. Later reissues often keep the catalog number but change the label design or the runout codes.
How much is Skywriter on vinyl worth?
It depends on which pressing you have and on the condition of the record and its sleeve. Early pressings from the album's home country in near mint condition are usually worth the most; common later reissues are worth far less. Scan your copy with VinylLens to see its value for every grade.
