The Newsboys were/are Phil Harding and Ian Curnow, and the single 'Bring Me The News Boy' was released in 1980. At the time, I was working with Phil at the Marquee Studio where I was recording an album for Jet Records with Mike Sheppard (see the 'Campbell & Sheppard' playlist). He asked me if I'd write the lyrics for the song and record the vocals. The single was released by Epic in the UK, RCA in Holland, and SAM in the US. For contractual reasons, my name couldn't appear on the record. Soon afterwards, Phil and Ian joined Stock Aitken Waterman (PWL Studios), working with acts such as Dead Or Alive, Rick Astley, Kylie Minogue, Bananarama, Mel & Kim, Donna Summer and Pet Shop Boys.
